Range Rover has launched the limited-run Sport Twenty Edition in India at Rs 1.90 crore (ex-showroom), marking two decades of the performance-focused luxury SUV. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in October 2026.
The anniversary model draws inspiration from the Range Stormer concept unveiled at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show, which previewed the design direction of the original Range Rover Sport launched the following year. The Twenty Edition combines distinctive anniversary detailing with elements drawn from the Range Rover Sport Autobiography and the high-performance SV. While the special edition brings several cosmetic and interior changes, its India-spec powertrain remains the familiar 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology.
537 bhp V8, 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds
The V8 produces 537 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Range Rover claims the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds, with performance complemented by the brand's sophisticated chassis and all-wheel-drive technologies.
The equipment package includes active air suspension, all-wheel steering, Terrain Response technology, an electronically controlled differential and torque vectoring by braking. These systems are intended to balance the Sport's performance-oriented character with the off-road capability traditionally associated with Range Rover.
Unlike the more powerful Range Rover Sport SV, the Twenty Edition is therefore not primarily a mechanical performance upgrade. Its focus is on exclusivity and commemorating the model's 20-year history.
Special orange paint recalls original Sport
Among the Twenty Edition's most distinctive features is Sanguinello Orange, an ultra-metallic finish developed as a reference to the orange Range Stormer concept and the Vesuvius Orange First Edition Range Rover Sport from 2005.
Santorini Black and Ostuni Pearl White are also available. Buyers can specify a Black Exterior Pack, which adds darker exterior detailing and a black contrast roof.
Edition-specific “TWENTY” markings appear across the vehicle, while the SUV rides on 23-inch Gloss Sparkle Silver alloy wheels. Gloss Black wheels are available as an alternative.
The anniversary treatment is deliberately restrained rather than radically altering the current Range Rover Sport's exterior design.
SV influence inside the cabin
The cabin receives more substantial special-edition detailing. It features Ebony Windsor leather performance seats derived from the Range Rover Sport SV, bringing some of the flagship model's sporting character to the Twenty Edition.
Illuminated “TWENTY” treadplates identify the anniversary model when the doors are opened, while further Twenty scripting appears on the centre console. A black suedecloth headlining and carbon-inspired interior detailing create a darker, performance-oriented cabin.
The luxury and technology package also includes a Meridian audio system alongside Range Rover's existing comfort and connectivity equipment.
Twenty years of Range Rover Sport
The Twenty Edition commemorates a model that played a major role in expanding Range Rover beyond its traditional luxury off-road positioning.
The first-generation Sport entered production in 2005 following the Range Stormer concept. The second generation subsequently moved to a lighter aluminium-intensive architecture, while the current third-generation SUV combines luxury with increasingly sophisticated chassis and electrified powertrain technology.
Across its three generations, the Sport has also been used for a series of high-profile performance demonstrations. These included setting a production SUV record at the Pikes Peak hill climb in 2013 and climbing the 999 steps leading to Heaven's Gate at Tianmen Mountain in China in 2018. The current-generation model was demonstrated climbing the flooded spillway of Iceland's Kárahnjúkar Dam during its global reveal.
The Sport crossed one million global sales during its second generation, becoming one of Range Rover's most important models.
With the Twenty Edition, Range Rover is using those two decades of history rather than additional horsepower as the principal selling point. At Rs 1.90 crore before taxes and registration costs, the limited-run SUV sits firmly in the upper reaches of India's luxury performance-SUV market, with its appeal centred on its V8 powertrain, anniversary specification and exclusivity.
