JSW MG Motor India’s luxury retail channel MG SELECT on Thursday introduced its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership programme for the Cyberster and M9, extending the battery rental model to its premium electric vehicle portfolio.
Under the programme, the MG Cyberster will be available at an introductory BaaS price of Rs 72.49 lakh, with customers paying an additional battery rental charge of Rs 8 per kilometre. The MG M9, meanwhile, will be offered at Rs 69.99 lakh under the scheme, along with the same Rs 8 per kilometre battery rental charge.
Lower upfront cost
The BaaS model separates the cost of the battery from the upfront purchase price of the electric vehicle, allowing buyers to pay for battery usage based on kilometres driven. MG said the programme is aimed at providing luxury EV customers with greater flexibility and more ownership choices. The expansion of BaaS to the Cyberster and M9 brings two of MG SELECT’s flagship electric models under the alternative ownership programme.
Cyberster packs 510 PS
The Cyberster is a two-seater electric roadster inspired by the classic MGB Roadster. It is powered by a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain producing 510 PS and 725 Nm of torque. According to the company, the electric sports car can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in about 3.2 seconds.
The model also features electric scissor doors, a low-slung design and a cockpit-oriented cabin, combining performance-focused engineering with the styling cues of a traditional roadster.
M9 targets executive travel
The M9, positioned as a luxury electric MPV, has been designed primarily for chauffeur-driven and executive travel. Its cabin features 16-way adjustable Presidential Seats with eight massage modes, ventilation and heating functions.
Other features include a dual sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting and a 13-speaker audio system. On the safety front, the M9 comes equipped with Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, a driver monitoring system and seven airbags. The vehicle has also secured five-star ratings under both Euro NCAP and ANCAP crash-testing programmes.
