Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has allegedly received threats from individuals claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to a social media post that surfaced online. The authenticity of the post has not been independently verified, and investigators are examining its origin and credibility.
The purported message, attributed to Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Arzu Bishnoi and another individual identifying himself as Tyson Bishnoi, accuses Khan of promoting what it describes as "love jihad." The post claims that such actions are against Indian culture and Sanatan Dharma, warning that the actor would face consequences if he continued along the same path.
In the message, the alleged authors declare that they would not tolerate public figures who, in their view, encourage such activities. They also warn that celebrities using their influence to promote ideas they oppose would be "silenced." The post contains a series of inflammatory statements and threats directed at Khan, making it the latest instance in which a Bollywood personality has reportedly been targeted in the name of the Bishnoi gang.
The post goes beyond its remarks about the actor and refers to the alleged kidnapping, trafficking and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar last month. While praising the local administration for its response, it accuses certain political leaders of attempting to shield some of the accused. It warns that anyone involved in the crime who escapes legal punishment would be dealt with by the gang and cautions politicians against interfering in the investigation.
The message also pays tribute to two individuals identified as Parvesh and Himanshu, describing them as "martyrs" and vowing that their deaths would be avenged. It states that their sacrifice would not be forgotten and promises retaliation against those considered enemies by the group.
According to sources, Mumbai Police were alerted after receiving information about the alleged threats through a Facebook post and an accompanying voice note. Officials are examining both pieces of material to determine whether they are genuine and whether they originated from individuals linked to the Bishnoi network.
Police sources said that, as of now, neither Aamir Khan nor anyone representing him has approached the Mumbai Police with a formal complaint regarding the alleged threats. Authorities indicated that appropriate legal action, including the registration of a criminal case, may be considered if a complaint is filed and the preliminary verification establishes sufficient grounds for investigation.
The incident comes against the backdrop of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's long-running hostility towards another Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan. Over the past several years, Salman has repeatedly received death threats allegedly linked to the gang, forcing authorities to significantly enhance his security.
The Bishnoi gang rose to national prominence after claiming responsibility for the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. The organisation has repeatedly cited Salman Khan's alleged involvement in the 1998 blackbuck hunting case in Rajasthan as the reason for targeting him. Members of the Bishnoi community regard the blackbuck as a sacred animal.
Lawrence Bishnoi had publicly threatened Salman Khan during a court appearance in 2018, declaring that the actor would be killed in Jodhpur. Since then, the threats have escalated. The gang claimed responsibility for the firing outside Salman Khan's Bandra residence in April 2024. It also linked the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique to his close association with the actor, warning that anyone perceived to be supporting Salman Khan could also become a target.
While investigators continue to verify the latest online threat against Aamir Khan, police have urged caution against drawing conclusions until the authenticity of the social media post and voice recording is established. No official statement has yet been issued by the actor or his representatives.
