The search for the next James Bond may be nearing its conclusion, with the casting process for the iconic 007 role reportedly entering its final stage. Daniel Craig's run as the British spy ended with 'No Time To Die', but the question of who will take over the role has remained one of Hollywood's biggest casting mysteries.
Bond casting enters final round
Industry insider Daniel Richtman has now shared a fresh update on the search. In a post on X, he claimed that the makers have narrowed down their choices and may already have settled on the next actor.
"I hear they're in the final round of casting for James Bond and might have already found their guy," Daniel wrote.
There has been growing speculation around the casting process in recent months. Earlier reports suggested that director Denis Villeneuve, along with producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, had begun informing actors who had advanced to later rounds of auditions.
Screen tests were also reportedly expected to take place in August, adding to speculation that the long-running search could soon produce an official decision.
Several actors linked to 007 role
The identity of the actors who have reached the final stage has not been officially disclosed. However, several names have repeatedly been linked to the role.
Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have all featured in reports surrounding the search.
Turner and Lowden have emerged as two of the most prominent contenders in recent speculation. While some reports have suggested that the 'Masters of the Air' actor could be the preferred choice, others have placed Lowden ahead in the race. Both actors have also appeared among the leading names in betting markets for the part.
Six actors have officially played Bond
The James Bond franchise began with Ian Fleming's espionage novels in 1953 and later expanded into one of cinema's most enduring series.
The official film series currently spans 25 movies, with six actors having taken on the role of MI6 agent 007. Sean Connery first portrayed Bond in 1962, followed by George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
With Craig's era now over, attention remains firmly on the actor who will inherit the famous role and lead Bond into its next chapter.
