International action thriller 7 Dogs, featuring Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt in cameo appearances, is set to release in Indian cinemas on August 21 following its theatrical run in the Middle East.
The film will be released in India in Hindi and English, bringing together actors from India, Egypt, Europe and Hollywood.
Directed by Belgian-Moroccan filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, known for their work on the Bad Boys franchise, the film is led by Egyptian stars Ahmed Ezz and Karim Abdel Aziz.
The international cast also includes Italian actor Monica Bellucci and American actor Giancarlo Esposito, while Salman and Sanjay make special appearances.
Salman also announced the film’s India release, building anticipation around its arrival in theatres. The project marks another on-screen association between Salman and Sanjay, who have previously worked together in Hindi films.
7 Dogs is a Saudi-backed action production and has been mounted on a large scale. Reports have placed its budget at around $40 million.
The film centres on an action-heavy mission led by the characters played by Ahmed Ezz and Karim Abdel Aziz, with the international ensemble featuring in key roles around them.
Directors El Arbi and Fallah have described the project as an international film, with Ezz and Abdel Aziz at the heart of its story and performers from different parts of the world contributing to its ensemble.
Salman and Sanjay’s appearances had already generated attention when glimpses of the two actors emerged in the film’s promotional material. Their brief appearances in the trailer drew considerable interest among Indian fans.
The August 21 release will now bring the film to Indian theatres after its Middle East premiere, with its Hindi and English versions seeking to reach a wider domestic audience.
The project also stands out for bringing together Indian stars Salman and Sanjay, Egyptian leads Ezz and Abdel Aziz, Bellucci and Esposito under the direction of El Arbi and Fallah in a single international production.
