Salman Khan admits he is still working on his physique after shirtless 'Bigg Boss 20' moment

The actor addressed reactions to his shirtless appearance and said he deliberately showed his physique before reaching his desired fitness level

Salman Khan has addressed the viral moment from ‘Bigg Boss 20’ when he took off his shirt on television while responding to online body-shaming. The actor clarified that the move was not meant to show off a fully toned physique, saying he is still working on getting back into shape for his next film.

The moment came during an earlier episode of ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’, when Salman spoke about the comments made by social media trolls about celebrities’ appearances and bodies.

Salman says he is still working on his physique

During the latest episode, Salman joked about the reaction to his shirtless appearance and explained why he had decided to remove his shirt despite not being at his desired level of fitness.

“Jab shirt utara tha maine, maine isliye utaara tha ki nahi hai abhi 6 pack (I took my shirt off because I wanted to show that I don’t have a six-pack right now),” the actor said.

He added that he still has around one to two months to work on his physique before his next film and described his current fitness as a work in progress.

‘Unfit mein dikhaya maine’

Salman said he was surprised that viewers liked his physique despite him not being in the shape he is aiming for.

“Unko pata nahi body achhi lag gayi. Abhi nahi hai. Abhi time hai uske liye. 1-2 mahine hain. Work in progress hai ye abhi. Aisa nahi hai ki fit ho gaya hu, to dikhaya. Unfit mein dikhaya maine. (I don’t know why, but people liked how my body looked. But I don’t have it yet. I still have time, about one or two months. It’s a work in progress. It’s not like I got fit and then decided to show it. I showed it when I was unfit," said Salman.

Why Salman removed his shirt on ‘Bigg Boss 20’

The original incident took place when Salman was addressing what he described as the trolling faced by actors over their appearance. He also confronted ‘Bigg Boss 20’ contestant Scout over comments he considered insensitive.

“What do you want to troll? And why do you want to troll? What is the mentality? It has happened with me too. Bhai mota ho gaya hai (He has become fat) Kar lo na troll ye lo (Now come troll me)… (removes his hat, then his jacket) Kar lo trolling (Come troll me).”

Salman then removed his shirt and challenged trolls to look at their own lives and health before commenting on others.

“Pehle apne aap ko dekho. Aap log jo comment karte ho na, jo bhi karte ho (First look at yourself. Then comment on others). Look at your parents' health, your own health.”

The contestants cheered for the actor and expressed their support.

‘Bigg Boss 20’ premiered on September 6, with Salman returning as its host. The latest contestant to leave the reality show was Isha Rikhi.
