Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are set to revisit one of the most difficult experiences of their lives when they appear together on the final season of Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee With Karan. In the upcoming episode, the couple speak about the night Saif was stabbed at their Bandra home in January 2025, with Kareena recalling the fear and distress that followed the attack.
The episode marks the couple's return to the show's couch together after 16 years. Their last joint appearance was in the third season in 2010, when they were still dating. While the promos have offered a glimpse of Saif's irreverent humour and Kareena's trademark wit, the conversation also takes an emotional turn as they reflect on the attack and its impact on their family.
Kareena recalls six months of sleepless nights after attack
Recounting the events of that night, Kareena revealed that the incident left her so shaken that she could not sleep for six months. Describing the panic that unfolded as Saif was being taken for medical attention, she said, “I was screaming on the road, ‘Ruko, ruko’. It was like a movie scene.”
Saif described the incident as “the worst night in the history of nights”. He also spoke about the seriousness of his injuries and the effort it took to remain composed during the ordeal, particularly because their children were witnessing what was happening.
The couple also recalled the support they received from family members and loved ones as they dealt with the aftermath of the attack.
What happened during the attack on Saif Ali Khan?
The incident took place on January 16, 2025, when an intruder entered Saif and Kareena's apartment in Mumbai's Bandra neighbourhood and confronted their domestic help. Saif intervened, leading to a violent altercation in which the actor sustained multiple stab wounds.
He was taken to hospital in an autorickshaw and underwent an emergency surgery that lasted around six hours. He returned home on January 21, after being discharged from hospital.
Mumbai Police arrested the accused, Mohammad Shariful Islam, two days after the attack. The case subsequently moved to trial. A Mumbai sessions court framed charges against Islam in August 2026 after he pleaded not guilty. The court rejected his subsequent request to plead guilty and seek leniency in September, directing that the trial proceed. The trial began in October.
Saif and Kareena return to Koffee With Karan after 16 years
The couple's appearance is the fourth episode of the ninth and final season of Koffee With Karan. Host Karan Johar announced last month that the current season would be the show's last, with actor Salman Khan appearing as the inaugural guest.
The promos for Saif and Kareena's episode have teased their playful exchanges with Karan and each other, including Saif's unfiltered responses and Kareena's quick-witted remarks.
The episode will stream on Wednesday, November 4, at 7 pm on JioHotstar's The Peacock Hub.
