October 2026 is set to bring a varied line-up of Hollywood films to theatres, with action, horror, thrillers, literary adaptations, animation and franchise titles all competing for audience attention.
The month begins with a packed slate on October 2, followed by several major releases later in the month. Here is a look at the films scheduled to arrive in theatres.
Tom Cruise leads October 2 releases
Tom Cruise headlines ‘Digger’ as Digger Rockwell, an oil tycoon whose pursuit of power and profit sets off a global catastrophe. As the situation moves towards the threat of nuclear conflict, Digger attempts to portray himself as the person capable of saving the world.
Also arriving on October 2 is ‘Verity’, starring Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway. Johnson plays writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired to complete the book series of the incapacitated Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway. Lowen soon discovers a disturbing manuscript that pulls her into a dangerous web of secrets and deception.
The October 2 line-up also includes sci-fi thriller ‘April X’ and ‘Rolling Loud: The Movie’, which follows a father who takes his 13-year-old son to a huge hip-hop festival in Miami. Their attempt at bonding turns chaotic when they become separated in the crowd.
Facebook whistleblower story comes to screen
On October 9, ‘The Social Reckoning’ will dramatise the story of Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison. The film follows her collaboration with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, played by Jeremy Allen White, as they work with thousands of internal documents linked to the Facebook Files investigation.
Austen adaptation and ‘Street Fighter’ arrive
‘Sense and Sensibility’ is scheduled for October 16, bringing Jane Austen’s classic story to the big screen with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles playing the Dashwood sisters. Directed by Georgia Oakley, the film follows Elinor and Marianne as they deal with love, financial hardship and social expectations.
The same day will see the release of ‘Street Fighter’, featuring Andrew Koji as Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken Masters. The former martial arts partners reunite for the World Warrior Tournament, where they uncover a dangerous conspiracy.
‘Whalefall’, starring Austin Abrams, also releases on October 16. The survival thriller follows a diver who becomes trapped inside a giant sperm whale while searching for his late father’s remains.
Horror and fantasy dominate October 23
October 23 brings ‘Clayface’, a darker psychological body-horror film from DC Studios, directed by James Watkins and starring Tom Rhys Harries.
Also releasing that day is ‘Klara and the Sun’, based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel and starring Jenna Ortega, Mia Tharia and Amy Adams.
LAIKA’s stop-motion fantasy ‘Wildwood’ rounds out the major October 23 releases, following a young girl who enters an enchanted forest filled with magical creatures and hidden dangers.
