Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, said the medical team carried out continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) after Patekar was brought to the hospital.

Doctor confirms prolonged resuscitation attempt

Dr Salkar's statement provided details of the emergency treatment administered after Patekar was brought to Manipal Hospital.

“Despite 45 minutes of continuous CPR, he could not be revived,” the doctor said, confirming that the medical team made prolonged efforts to resuscitate the actor.

The hospital has so far identified severe cardiac arrest as the immediate medical emergency. However, with an MLC registered and a post-mortem examination due to be conducted, further medical details could emerge after the examination.

At present, the confirmed account is that Patekar suffered a severe cardiac arrest, was found unconscious at his Goa residence, was taken to Manipal Hospital and could not be revived despite approximately 45 minutes of continuous CPR.

His last public appearance came days before his death

Footage from the event showed the actor speaking at the gathering. His sudden death came as a shock to fans and colleagues, particularly because of his recent public appearance.

Post-mortem to provide further medical details

With an MLC now registered, Patekar's post-mortem examination is expected to provide further official information about the circumstances surrounding his death.

For now, the hospital account remains clear: Patekar suffered a severe cardiac arrest at his Goa residence, was found unconscious, was taken to Manipal Hospital and underwent around 45 minutes of continuous CPR before doctors were unable to revive him.
