What is 'Captain India' about?
Directed by Shimit Amin, 'Captain India' is being produced by T-Series, Baweja Studios and Dopamine Studios. Amin is known for films including 'Chak De! India' and 'Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year'.
Kartik is expected to play a pilot in the film. The story is inspired by a historic evacuation mission, with the project drawing from a real-life event.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, actor Parvathy Thiruvothu is expected to feature in an important role, although details about her character have not been revealed. Manish Chaudhary has also reportedly joined the cast in a key role.
Shimit Amin returns to direction
The film also marks Amin's return to filmmaking after a lengthy break. He was active as a director between 2004 and 2009 before stepping away from directing for more than a decade.
With 'Captain India', Amin is returning to the director's chair, while Kartik takes on a role that is different from many of his recent projects.
'Captain India' is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on August 13, 2027.
