The trailer of 'Haiwaan', starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, has been released, setting up a dark thriller built around a series of mysterious deaths and a dangerous pursuit. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11.
Saif Ali Khan faces a terrifying mystery
The trailer opens with Akshay Kumar's voice in a tense moment as he pleads for help, saying, "Sir, sir! He saw me, sir! He'll kill me. Save me, sir! He has a knife in his hand!"
Soon after, Saif is introduced as a visually-impaired man navigating dimly lit corridors, while Akshay's character watches from the shadows.
Saiyami Kher, who plays a police officer, lays out the mystery surrounding a series of deaths. "Seven accidents occurred in the past year... everyone was killed along with their families."
The trailer cuts between disturbing scenes of violence, including a bloodied steering wheel, a woman screaming during heavy rain and Saif's increasingly uneasy character trying to understand what is happening.
Standing beside a vehicle on an isolated road, Saif says, "Maybe someone is following us... the sound of the exact same jeep is heard again and again."
Akshay Kumar plays a menacing antagonist
Akshay appears to be on the other side of the investigation, playing a sinister and unpredictable character who remains mostly hidden in the shadows.
He is seen watching his targets, appearing behind doorways and confronting Boman Irani in a particularly tense sequence. Saif eventually faces him and asks, "In your fire of revenge, how many more innocent lives will you take?!"
Akshay's character responds with a chilling, "This is the last one!"
Another exchange adds to the tension when Akshay's voice says, "Do you know what's worse than being blind? Being a fool."
High-octane action before release
The final portion of the trailer shifts into a faster-paced sequence, with Saif seen handling a gun and fighting his way through dark corridors. Akshay is shown climbing rooftops in heavy rain while carrying an axe.
A child hiding inside a locked room adds another layer of danger as footsteps approach from outside.
'Haiwaan' is the official Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller 'Oppam'. The screenplay has been co-written by Rohan Shankar and Abhilash Nair, with music composed by Pritam.
