'Elder brother': 'King' star Abhishek Bachchan reveals Shah Rukh Khan's advice he still follows

Abhishek Bachchan revealed how Shah Rukh Khan has supported his career and recalled a piece of advice he received before making his acting debut

Abhishek Bachchan says a piece of advice from Shah Rukh Khan, shared with him before he entered the film industry, continues to influence the way he approaches his work.

In an interview with BBC Asian Network ahead of ‘King’, Abhishek spoke about his long association with Shah Rukh and recalled the superstar’s advice on choosing and approaching films. According to Abhishek, Khan believes that an actor should consider the project they are currently working on their favourite.

Abhishek said he once asked Shah Rukh, “Which is your favourite film?” Khan’s response stayed with him.

“My favourite film is the film I am doing right now. Because if that is not my favourite film, then why am I doing it? So, what I am doing right now has to be my favourite. What has happened in the past is the past. I don't think about it. Right now it is King."

Shah Rukh's role in Abhishek's career

Abhishek also spoke about the bond he shares with Shah Rukh, describing him as an "elder brother" from his younger days.

Before making his acting debut, Abhishek would spend Sundays playing cricket at filmmaker Aditya Chopra’s house. Uday Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and Sikandar Kher were among those who joined him, while Shah Rukh was also around during that period.

The relationship continued over the years, with Abhishek saying Khan has supported him at several points in his career.

“He has literally taken personal responsibility several times now, including in King as well,” Abhishek said.
