The Conclusion continued its strong run at the box office on Saturday, collecting Rs 53.50 crore net in India on its second day, according to Sacnilk. The film, which released on October 2, has now crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India within two days.
The Day 2 collection came from 16,868 shows and represented a 13.7% decline from the film’s opening-day net collection of Rs 62 crore. Despite the drop, the third and final instalment of the Hindi franchise maintained strong momentum.
The film’s India net collection after two days stands at Rs 115.50 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 138.60 crore. It earned another Rs 20 crore from overseas markets on Day 2, taking its overseas gross to Rs 38.50 crore. Its worldwide gross collection has consequently reached Rs 177.10 crore.
Film brings Vijay Salgaonkar’s story to its conclusion
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 3: The Conclusion returns Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, whose efforts to protect his family have driven the Hindi franchise since the first film.
The story follows the events of Drishyam 2, in which Vijay once again managed to protect his family despite the police obtaining crucial evidence. The concluding chapter places him in another difficult situation as he attempts to protect the secrets he has fought to keep hidden.
The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. Jaideep Ahlawat plays SP Rajveer Singh Tomar, while Tabu returns as Meera Deshmukh.
Hindi and Malayalam films follow different stories
Drishyam 3: The Conclusion is not a direct remake of the upcoming Malayalam Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal. The two films follow separate storylines, with the Hindi version designed to bring Vijay Salgaonkar’s journey to an end.
Unlike the earlier Hindi films, the concluding chapter has an original story rather than directly adapting the Malayalam narrative. Pathak has said the filmmakers wanted to retain the nostalgia associated with the franchise while giving the Hindi film its own identity.
The director explained that the team repeatedly revisited details from the earlier films while developing the screenplay, examining small dialogues and visual elements to determine how they could be incorporated into the new story. He also said the screenplay was repeatedly challenged to ensure that its twists did not become too predictable.
The Hindi franchise began with Drishyam in 2015 and continued with Drishyam 2 in 2022. Nishikant Kamat directed the first film, while Pathak directed the second and has returned for the concluding instalment.
What critics said about Drishyam 3
The film has received a positive response from audiences, while reviews have been more measured.
News18 Showsha awarded Drishyam 3 a 3-star rating, describing it as a gripping and fast-paced thriller that understands the appeal of the franchise. Its review highlighted performances by Ajay Devgn, Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj and Kamlesh Sawant.
However, the review also noted that the film remains closely tied to the established Drishyam formula, arguing that its familiarity prevents it from becoming the grand conclusion the franchise might have warranted.
Other reviews have similarly highlighted Devgn and Ahlawat’s performances while noting the film’s emphasis on its final confrontation and twists.
With Rs 115.50 crore already collected in India and Rs 177.10 crore worldwide after two days, the film has entered its first weekend with the domestic Rs 100 crore milestone already behind it.
