Kriti Sanon is reportedly set to explore a new genre with an upcoming horror film backed by Maddock Films. The untitled project is expected to be mounted on a large scale, with the actor taking the lead in what is described as an out-and-out horror film, IANS reported.
If the project goes ahead as reported, it will mark Kriti's ninth collaboration with the production house, which has built a successful horror-comedy franchise in recent years. Details about the film's title, storyline and other cast members have not yet been disclosed.
A source quoted in the report said the actor had finalised her next project after receiving praise for her recent performances.
“After receiving praise for her performances in Cocktail 2 and Tere Ishk Mein, Kriti Sanon has finally locked her next project. She has always been keen to explore different genres, and this time, she is stepping into the world of pure horror with a large-scale film produced by Maddock, which she will be headlining,” the source said, reported NDTV.

Kriti's association with Maddock Films dates back to several projects across different genres. Her films with the production house include 'Raabta', 'Bareilly Ki Barfi', 'Luka Chuppi', 'Arjun Patiala', 'Mimi' and 'Bhediya'.
The reported horror project will also be her second solo lead with the banner after 'Mimi', for which she won a National Award.
The source further indicated that the upcoming film would differ from the production house's established horror-comedy offerings, signalling a move towards a more conventional horror format.
“Maddock has been on a winning streak, and this will be her ninth collaboration with the production house and her second solo lead with them after Mimi, for which she won a National Award. Unlike Maddock's horror-comedy universe, this film will be an out-and-out horror film, a space the production house is exploring for the first time. The makers are looking to mount it on a grand scale, and while details are currently under wraps, it's an exciting project to look forward to”, the source added.
What is Kriti Sanon's next project?
Kriti was last seen in 'Cocktail 2', directed by Homi Adajania. The film also featured Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
While further details about the reported horror film remain unavailable, the project would see Kriti take on a genre distinct from her previous collaborations with Maddock Films. The makers are yet to officially announce the film.
