Internet restored in Odisha's Bhadrak after communal tensions ease, prohibitory orders relaxed
Internet services were restored on Wednesday in Odisha's Bhadrak district as the region began recovering from communal tensions, officials reported. The internet was suspended after a clash erupted between two communities on Friday, triggered by a controversial social media post.
Authorities have also partially relaxed prohibitory orders in parts of Bhadrak and Dhamnagar towns, which had been imposed to contain the unrest. As restrictions ease, shops and other businesses have started reopening, signaling a return to normalcy in the coastal district.
"So far, 33 individuals, including the person responsible for the provocative social media post, have been arrested," stated Deputy Superintendent of Police (Bhadrak City) Anshuman Diwedi. The situation continues to improve as residents of Bhadrak work to move past the unrest and restore peace in the area.
