Congress concludes 'Nyay Yatra' in Chhattisgarh; Sachin Pilot warns BJP against arrogance

Sachin Pilot criticizes BJP for suppressing opposition through central agencies. Deepak Baij invites Chief Minister for a debate on the state's rising law and order concerns

Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot declared that his party has regained the confidence of the people in Chhattisgarh through its 'Nyay Yatra,' claiming that the politics of arrogance will no longer succeed. The march, led by state Congress chief Deepak Baij, began on September 27 from Giraudpuri, a significant religious site for the Satnami community in the Balodabazar-Bhatapara district. After covering 125 km in six days, the journey concluded in Raipur on Wednesday.

Addressing party leaders at Gandhi Maidan, Pilot criticized the BJP governments at both the state and central levels, accusing them of using agencies like the Income Tax Department, CBI, and ED to intimidate Congress leaders. He argued that the BJP’s approach of pressure and arrogance would no longer work, urging them to focus on delivering the promises made in their manifesto.

Pilot emphasized that Congress, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s values of truth, non-violence, and hard work, would not be bullied. He warned that if the BJP continued its politics of vendetta and exploitation, the Congress would respond appropriately.

Chhattisgarh Congress president Deepak Baij echoed Pilot's sentiments, describing the 'Nyay Yatra' as a movement to raise awareness about the failures of the nine-month-old BJP government. According to Baij, the state has seen a dramatic rise in crime under the BJP, with incidents of murder, rape, and loot creating a climate of fear. He accused the state government of transforming Chhattisgarh into another Manipur and challenged Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to a public debate on the law and order situation.

Baij further criticized the BJP for defaming the Congress rather than addressing governance issues. He highlighted several tragic incidents during BJP rule, including the Jhiram Valley attack and the killing of 76 jawans by Naxalites, questioning the government’s accountability. Baij also expressed outrage over the recent Loharidih incident, where violence following the death of a local man led to the death of a deputy sarpanch and raised concerns about police brutality.

Baij concluded by affirming that Congress follows Gandhian principles and called on the BJP to stop misusing power for political gains.
